I like to revitalise my ribbons that way too. The respooling can be a pain, but I think it's well worth the extra bit of time.
I've got a WD-40 refreshed ribbon in my office size Underwood going on 3 years now and it is still working fine. Too bad WD-40 does not do the same for the mechanics of the machines.
I know, right? The Touchmaster is much easier to type on than my Olivetti 21, and it even has the same font. I would like to use it to continue writing my current novel, with my Fleetwing out of commission. However, it is nearly impossible to read a paragraph of text because of the "R" key. It looks like a bird dipped its feet in ink and hopped all over the page.
